Funeral for Lilly Barnett, daughter of Miles and Maike.
Published online 26th January 2007

We've just received news that Lilly, the young daughter of ex-CUBC oarsman Miles Barnett and his wife Maike, died in her sleep this week. From one correspondent: "As you may know, she had been in hospital for much of her short life and hadn't put on weight for some time.

Miles has asked me to pass on to everyone that Lilly's funeral is to be held at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Longhoughton, Alnwick at 10.00 on Monday 29th. There will be a reception afterwards at 12.30 in Alnwick Gardens. Children are welcome for both.

Some people have asked whether there is a particular charity that people could donate to in place of sending flowers. Miles and Maike have had fantastic support from the Northumberland Children's Community Nursing Team and have indicated that, should people choose to make a donation rather than send flowers, they would be very grateful if any donations could be directed towards this charity. Cheques should be made payable to Northumberland Children's Community Nursing Team (followed by the following code) NC050.

It is obviously a fair distance for many to travel but Miles and Maike hope that circumstances will permit many of you to make the journey and look forward to welcoming you."

Alan Watson (Blue 1997) is going to drive up to the funeral from London, leaving on Sunday afternoon and returning on Monday afternoon. If anyone would like a lift (from London or along the A1) and to share petrol then contact him via the Rowing Service.
