Tuesday 9th February 2010: "More efficient watering strategies for plants"

How water gets into plants and affects their growth has become a point of intense interest for horticultural scientists lately, with work on both improving yields for first-world agriculture, and avoiding crop problems in drought in the third world. Climate change may also have an effect. Dr Chris Atkinson will explain the latest techniques he and his team have developed to combat these problems, and discuss the current thinking on watering methods.

Dr Atkinson is the Head of Science at the East Malling Research institute which does research and development in horticulture.
