9th January 2007: "Why is there anything in the Universe? - and other big questions"

Frank Close, author of The Cosmic Onion and The New Cosmic Onion, probes the big questions of our existence. Why is there anything at all in the current Universe? What happened to the Grand Unification of Forces theory? How far have scientists now gone, 100 years on from Einstein? Where does science go next?

Theoretical physics has had an immense impact on human existence in the past century. Can we consider how much further it can push our civilisation?

Tying together what has been achieved and what might be possible, Professor Close launches us into the New Year with a suitably forward-loooking Cafe.

Come along and join us at 7pm in Blackwells Main Bookshop, Broad Street, Oxford.
No ticket, no booking, no scientific background required.
