Index to Regatta
Regatta magazine is published 10 times each year by the Amateur Rowing Association. The twin objectives of Regatta are to be a magazine for rowers about rowing and the main means of communication between the ARA and its 14,000-odd members, its clubs and its regattas. Regatta tries to maintain a balance between the interest groups encompassed by these objectives.
Regatta publishes the Official Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race Programme each year with the magazine, giving news of the crews and special features on the Boat Race.
Regatta's classified advertising pages are an effective market place for boats and equipment, jobs, crew vacancies, boat trailers, accommodation at Henley and rowing services. Notice Board is a low-budget service for clubs and regattas to advertise reunions and make announcements.
Cox and Box
Regatta's Cox and Box pages are rowing's liveliest forum for the exchange of ideas and views, contributed by readers and enhanced in the printed edition by the Alternative Rower strip cartoon. Contribute to Cox and Box by snail mail to Cox and Box, Regatta, 6 Lower Mall, London W6 9DJ, or by fax to +44 (0)181 741 4658, or by electronic mailbox.
Recent Features in Regatta include an account of rowing across the English Channel, profiles of the British Olympic team, the history of rowing in the Olympics, and the story of the first Princess Elisabeth Cup at Henley Royal Regatta.
Regatta publishes the official Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race programme each year, and the July edition is a comprehensive souvenir of Henley Royal Regatta.
>From time to time special sections are devoted to such topics as Money, how to get it and how to spend it, Sponsorship, Junior Rowing etc.
Regatta's Boathouse section includes a grab bag of rowing culture from Hammer Smith's sharp-witted People column to book reviews, from Rachel Quarrell's Webfoot column on sculling the Net to Body and Soul on personal health and wellbeing, from historical and Rowing Hall of Fame matters to Rowshow's review of new products.
Catch - Regatta's fixtures
Regatta publishes the Regatta Calendar of regattas and head of river races in England, Scotland and Wales, plus the principal international regattas, in February. Each edition of the magazine carries Catch giving dates for the month ahead plus details of coaching conferences and courses, meetings and congresses, special events and exhibitions, and times of closure for the Thames Barrier.
Henley Royal Regatta
Regatta's July edition is a special souvenir for Henley Royal Regatta. It is essential reading for competitors, towpathers, overseas visitors and members and their guests.
